Energy from deep underground: GeoTHERM 2026 brings the international industry together in Offenburg

Offenburg. GeoTHERM – the world's largest expo and congress for geothermal energy – will once again open its doors at the Offenburg Exhibition Centre on 26 and 27 February 2026. The event brings together international experts, companies and decision-makers from the fields of shallow and deep geothermal energy and offers a unique platform for exchange, knowledge transfer and innovation.

„GeoTHERM has established itself as the world's leading event in the geothermal industry. In 2026, we want to continue to be the central meeting place for the international geothermal community and provide impetus for the future of renewable energies“, says project manager Gabriele Weislogel.

The event is characterised by its clear focus: exhibitors from Germany and abroad present the latest technologies, services and projects relating to the use of geothermal energy. The trade fair is complemented by two parallel congresses that highlight current developments in near-surface and deep geothermal energy.

Scientific conferences: GeoTHERM's technical focus
The conference on near-surface and deep geothermal energy will remain the core content of GeoTHERM in 2026. International experts from research, industry and politics will discuss current developments, forward-looking technologies and practical experiences. In over 60 specialist presentations, visitors to the last event were given a compact overview of the latest findings, challenges and solutions from across the entire spectrum of geothermal energy.

To promote international exchange, all presentations will be simultaneously translated into German and English. In addition, the annual GeoTHERM Journal offers researchers and specialist authors the opportunity to publish their presentations retrospectively as scientific articles. The articles are assigned a DOI and can therefore be cited – a clear added value for the international community.

Young Innovators: A stage for start-ups
One highlight of the upcoming GeoTHERM is the Young Innovators programme, which is sponsored by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK). It offers innovative start-ups from Germany the opportunity to present their ideas, technologies and business models to an international audience of experts. With this programme, GeoTHERM is sending a strong signal in support of young companies whose solutions contribute to the further development and competitiveness of the geothermal industry. Start-ups benefit from attractive trade fair conditions and the opportunity to present their business models to an international audience of experts or to establish contacts with investors and new partners.
