Call for Papers – Please submit your paper by 31 August 2026

Would you like to present your research findings, practical projects or innovative developments at the GeoTHERM 2027 scientific conference?

If so, take this opportunity to submit a paper and become part of the international technical programme at GeoTHERM 2027. Contributions from academia, industry, planning, operations and application are warmly welcomed.

Submissions must be made online via the GeoTHERM Journal platform.

Topics of the congress

The GeoTHERM scientific conference covers the entire spectrum of geothermal energy and is divided into the following topics:

Deep geothermal energy

We welcome contributions from the fields of research, development and practice relating to the utilisation of deep geothermal resources. This includes technical, scientific, economic and regulatory issues across the entire project chain – from exploration and development through to operation, storage and heat utilisation.

Shallow geothermal energy

We are seeking contributions on current developments, applications and experiences in the field of shallow geothermal energy. Topics relating to planning, technology, operation, innovation, monitoring and practical application in buildings, neighbourhoods and municipal supply concepts are particularly welcome.

Focus topic for GeoTHERM 2027: Sector coupling and synergies with oil, gas and mining (Sector coupling with other energy sources)

A particular focus of GeoTHERM 2027 is on sector coupling, as well as on interfaces and synergies between geothermal energy and the oil & gas, mining and subsurface utilisation sectors.

We are seeking contributions on technologies, infrastructure, Solar thermal energy, waste incineration, combined heat and power (CHP) plants, knowledge transfer and transformation strategies that harness the existing expertise and resources of these industries for geothermal use. Submissions may include, among other things, practical examples, research papers, innovative concepts and case studies from national and international projects.

Interdisciplinary contributions, as well as innovative approaches and research findings from related fields of geothermal energy, are also expressly welcome.

Please register or log in now via the GeoTHERM Journal website.

Your submission must include the following:

  • an extended abstract not exceeding 3 A4 pages
  • the title the name of the presenter
  • the language of the presentation (German or English)
  • Classification as deep or near-surface geothermal energy or the focus topic ‘sector coupling’
  • Preference for a presentation or scientific poster

Please note! Submissions can only be made via upload on the portal.

Pure product or company presentations without technical or scientific added value cannot be considered within the framework of the scientific congress.
